Psychotherapy Services

I offer individual therapy through telehealth for women 18+ in Virginia.  I specialize in treating anxiety, depression, grief, life transitions/adjustments, and relationship concerns as well as faith-based counseling. â€‹â€‹

I believe the heart of therapy is the relationship formed between client and therapist.  Through a compassionate, accepting alliance, a safe environment is created in which clients can openly share, examine, and process their thoughts, feelings, and experiences without fear of criticism or chastisement.

I personalize the therapy process based on the client, her needs, and her strengths.  Initially we will explore and unpack the difficulties and concerns to be addressed utilizing a client-centered, trauma informed approach.  Based on the individualized treatment goals, we will work to expand awareness and insight, build skills, change unhelpful patterns, and shift perspectives incorporating techniques from a variety of treatment modalities which may include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) among others.  Additionally, I provide faith-based counseling for those who wish to integrate their Christian faith into the treatment process.  As treatment progresses, we will evaluate progress to ensure goals are being met.

Please be aware that I do not provide assessments for disability or fitness for duty, nor do I provide expert witness testimony in court.

About

Marnie Leadman, M.Ed., LPC

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Virginia with 13+ years of experience.  I hold a Master of Education in Community Counseling from The College of William and Mary.  Currently I am completing a Graduate Certificate in Spiritual Formation from Regent University. I have worked with a diverse population from youth to older adults in various settings to include outpatient, residential, and primary care.

I am often asked what motivated me to become a therapist.  During a dark time in my life, I sought out therapy and encountered first-hand the power of having a safe place to process my pain and suffering.  After a positive and transformative experience, I felt inspired to devote my life to helping others facing adversity and woundedness.  Walking alongside clients as they work towards growth and wholeness is a deeply fulfilling and humbling process.
